Vancouver, Fraser Valley Sturgeon Fishing |
White Sturgeon are one of the last remaining dinosaur-like species. They have been around basically unchanged for 40 million years .
Sturegon can reach 12 feet long or more and weigh up to 1100 pounds! Sturgeon are thought to live for up to 200 years.Maturity is at about 17 to 25 yaers, which is about 5 to 6 ft...90 to 140 pounds
Many Sturgeon , however, range from 3-6 feet in length and have an acrobatic ability that is amazing for large fish.
Sturgeon fishing is steady from Mid March to late december, with peak times being April and May, then again from September on to mid November.
Spring is when the Eulachons start spawning in the Fraser and they just go crazy over these small herring like fish...they have not fed much over the winter.

Summer months are also good for Sturgeon, when the Sockeye start arriving in July and August...
On odd numbered years (2009,2011) we have a huge Pink salmon run, which gives Sturgeon an easy feed on roe and carcasses., then, the Fall comes and all species of Salmon show up and the FEEDBAG is on before winter again.
Average days will be 4 to 8 fish... then some days 28 plus!!!
When you see the gentle taps on the rod... it could be 2 ft or it could be a 10 feet Sturgeon... when the tip goes down hard... set the hook and hang on... when your reel starts screaming and your guide hastily releases the anchor, you know you are in for a battle!
Come join us this year for what we expect to be another GREAT WHITE STURGEON fishing year.
